if im trying to get a unique item by killing a boss guy how long does it usually take to find it?

I don't think anyone can give you exact numbers. The amount of people in your party, whether human players or heroes/henchmen, will greatly influence the drop rate. If you kill a boss alone, you should be able to get their unique item within 10 runs (although it's all about luck) but if you have a full party of 8, it can take, well, 8 times longer.

There's no real answer to this question, but it takes as long as it takes. There is no set number of times you kill a boss till it drops it's green. To get the quickest results, solo the boss. If the green doesn't drop in around 20-ish kills (that's my limit), go do something else as you have probably built up some anti-farm code. No one knows exactly how that works, except those that designed it, but it was confirmed that it does affect drop rates. It was created to combat bots and gold farmers, but enough of the history lesson. Come back after some time and solo the boss somemore if you need to until the green drops. Oh, and luck doesn't hurt either.
